WHAT’S A BUSCIA?
The word “buscia” means grandmother. Our busicias pay homage to the women who taught us how to make pierogi when we were young whipper snappers. You’ll find them wanderign around the fest in their housecoats and stockings (most likely falling down) with more lipstick on their teeth than on their lips. Ask nicely and they may share the handkerchief they most likely have stuffed up their sleeve or a rootbeer candy hidden in their purse.
YOU’RE MOST LIKELY TO HEAR THEM SAY
“Hand to God” for any truth they tell.
